No-Coast Update

It’s here!

The official No-Coast banner is alive and awesome! We’re a little under a month away from the Summer 2012 No-Coast event and I am P.A.N.I.C.K.E.D. and very very excited. The reason I haven’t been around lately is because I’ve been really swamped trying to get my inventory up to an acceptable level for the fair. Luckily, I’ve got a really awesome team helping me and contributing to The Bean House Shop’s first craft show! I hope that you all can make it, even if you don’t buy something from me, there a lot of amazing vendors that are going to be there that you should definitely check out. Go browse the No Coast website and see for youself! And make sure to stop into The Bean House Shop, we’re about to update all our inventory so you’ll be seeing some fun new things cropping up soon! Happy Monday!

Charlotte: 8 Months

It probably seems like I just posted Charlotte at seven months, which it should because I posted it last week. But here is her 8 month photo! She’s a champion crawler now, has four teeth (!) and is getting ready to walk. She’s sort of skipping the whole pull-up and stand part… she tries to get up in the middle of room. Love her!

Mommy’s Little Girl: Shirt Refashion Part II

Anybody else have a really muggy forecast ahead this weekend? We do, and it kind of makes me want to cry since we have yet to install our window air conditioning unit. But fear not, because this sudden heat wave has inspired me to make some easy-breezy clothes for our little ones, which means a new post!

I’ve had this shirt for a long time. It didn’t fit me when I bought, it doesn’t fit me now. Not sure why I waisted my money on it. It’s too wide and too short, all of which are big no-no’s for me. It doesn’t even work with the too wide/too short fashion that’s happening now. It’s just awkward. But I really love the color!

It’s reading kind of weird on my computer but it’s a really bold purple stripe with soft white and pink stripes between. Maybe that’s why I bought it? Maybe I thought the color would make up for the poor cut? Who knows…

Anyways, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to use its wonderful color and airy fabric to make a dress for Sophie. So I chopped the bottom off under the armpits. Cut strips from the arms removed the pocket (and I didn’t sew it back on! Le sigh. Sometimes pockets just aren’t necessary) and added a few extra buttons, some elastic and voila! I had a completely new dress!

Sophie is all into speaking in third person right now, I quote ” Ooo, the Sophie like.” What a goofball.

I had a stash of buttons that I used for the front two, and then to close the back completely, I cut one of those extra buttons on the bottom of the shirt. So really, this was a free dress. Win!

I criss crossed the back so that the straps didn’t fall off her shoulders, and all the bottons from the front are now in the back. I took me about an hour to sew this because again, all the seams were already sewn for me. Refashioning is probably some of the easiest sewing you can do.

Happy Friday everyone! Cheers!

A Big 2-7

June fourth was my leading man’s birthday. He turned 27! Gasp.

Since he had to work on his actual birthday (super bummertown) we celebrated on Saturday. Along with having a wonderful barbecue with friends, Tim got to do something really unique for his 27th birthday:

Yep, he got a chance to fly a plane! For Christmas I bought him a pass to a flight school and he redeemed it for his birthday. It was a GORG-eous day outside which was an added bonus. He was also able to bring a guest so yours truly was able to sit in the back seat of the plane and catch all the action with the camera.

This was my view  from where I was sitting.

And here’s my myspace-style photo op displaying how exactly I felt in that little puddle-jumper with my husband at the wheel.

Just kidding. Except that’s actually kind of how I felt. But no worries because I had a handsome man at the wheel, taking charge and learning to fly.

Isn’t he handsome? It was really amazing to be up in the air like that. I even got to have a little headset all to myself and listen to all the bravo-charlies going on. I have no idea what any of that meant but I am thinking about looking it up via google later on today. Just so you know.

Here’s a fun shot I took of the ground below:

Look at all the tiny trees (spoken in a Vector voice from Dispicable Me)! We were up in the air for about 30 minutes and it was 30 minutes of awesomeness!

So that’s how we spent Tim’s birthday celebration. It’ll be hard to top that in 2013 when he turn 28 (two more years and it’s 30! Bah!).

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Cheers!

Charlotte: 7 months

It’s so overdue… but we’ve got a lot going on over here at the Bean House. Enjoy!

Oh and don’t pay attention to the fact that I circled the wrong date on the calendar… whoops. I was one day off, one day she will forgive me. Happy Friday!
